On Friday, October 4th, 2024, a unique train journey awaits you. Nostalgia, enjoyment, and culture combined.
An antique locomotive from the former Furka-Oberalp Railway, dating back to 1948 – now part of the MGBahn and MGBahn Historic collection – will take you on a special train from Brig to Reckingen. You can choose between the nostalgic buffet car "Steam Pub" from 1910 or comfortable upholstered seats in over 60-year-old first-class coaches.
Travel in style - dine with delight
On the journey to Goms, you will sample remarkable wines from the Johanneli Fi winery, served with Valais delicacies. Upon arrival in Reckingen, the Boozuteam from Agarn will welcome you and escort you to the Joopi restaurant. Here, you will enjoy Cholera, the most traditional and well-known dish from Goms, while listening to legendary tales. Important: The Tales are told in Swiss German, there are no englisch speakers.
The nostalgic train will be waiting at Reckingen station to safely bring you back to Brig. After the eerie and spooky "Boozugschichtä," a calming coffee with "Jännulüter" is just what you need to soothe your spirits.

Restaurant Joopi, Reckingen
The small, family-run hotel with a restaurant in typical Swiss style is located right near the Reckingen train station. For over 100 years, guests from near and far have been coming to Restaurant Joopi to enjoy attentive service and the art of cooking.
Weinkeller: Johanneli Fi, Visp
The history of the Johanneli Fi winery is based on an old Valaisan legend with an unexpected ending.
In the 17th century, Z' Johanneli was said to be the first innkeeper on the Brigerberg. After closing time, she would secretly dilute the wine barrel with water to increase her profits. One evening, a guest caught Johanneli red-handed and she was banished from the village. She was never seen again, and it was said that she had to remain forever as a lost soul in the glacier waters to atone for her grave sin.
Today, the Johanneli Fi winery produces around 30,000 bottles annually, including the Johanneli Fi Heida Excellence, certified with the "Marke Wallis" label—a true rarity, not only because of its limited edition of 1,000 bottles per year.
